I arrived yesterday and it is my first time here. The weather is cool but not uncomfortable. So far, I am pleasantly surprised by the appearance of Wuhan &#8211; from its modern city scale to its great parks. The enormous Yangtze river (or Changjiang \u957f\u6c5f) cuts through Wuhan, separating the city into east and west.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/miltonliu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/JVFQ6056-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-42\" style=\"width:840px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/miltonliu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/JVFQ6056-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/miltonliu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/JVFQ6056-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/miltonliu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/JVFQ6056-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/miltonliu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/JVFQ6056-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/miltonliu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/JVFQ6056-2048x1536.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em><sup>The Yangtze going through Wuhan<\/sup><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>To many, Wuhan is perhaps best known for being the origin place of COVID-19: the outbreak is recognized to have started here in December 2019. Geographically, Wuhan is more interesting: it features a subtropical climate, landscape diversity, and sprawling urban development: all while being situated in the geographic center of China. The city features 11 bridges. Under the bridge, cargo ships through, while trains ride on a lower track as cars pass by on the top road. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/miltonliu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/ALNX1600-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-44\" srcset=\"https:\/\/miltonliu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/ALNX1600-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/miltonliu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/ALNX1600-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/miltonliu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/ALNX1600-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/miltonliu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/ALNX1600-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/miltonliu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/ALNX1600-2048x1536.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The bridge walk offers very expansive views of the city, but particularly emphasizes the vastness of the Yangtze. While the bridge provides walking paths on both sides, they are on the narrow side and also used by e-bike drivers. Be prepared to navigate lots of stairs and hills. The architecture at this point is highly stylized, designed by American architect <strong>F.H. It is more like the usual big, modern city in this regard: lots of commerce, lots of lights, and lots of people. It is all rather clean and populated with well-to-do folks.
